Life Events
You cannot make changes to your benefits plan mid‐year unless you experience a “qualifying life event.”
Changes in your life may affect decisions about your benefits. The below life event checklist can help you navigate these times of change. If your experience one of the life events below you must register your change within 31 days of the date of the event. If you miss the deadline you will have to wait for the next open enrollment opportunity. You may register the change online or by calling the benefitsPLUS Solution Center at 1-855-326-7870.
You must submit the appropriate documentation showing proof of the life event by emailing benefitsPLUS@dentsuaegis.com.
*Please note when registering for a life event you are not able to change plan types (example switching from the Standard to Enhanced medical plan) until the next open enrollment period.
Birth or Adoption
Adding a new baby or child to your family brings change and responsibility as well as joy. If you experience this life event you may enroll in coverage, waive coverage, or add your baby/child to your existing coverage. Your change will go into effect as of the birth/adoption date.
When enrolling you newborn, the enrollment platform will request a SSN. If you do not have one on file, simply input a temporary placeholder number and remember to update the enrollment when the correct SSN arrives.
Marriage
Getting married can have a big impact on benefits, taxes and finances. If you get married you will have the option of adding your spouse to your benefit elections, or you will have the option to waive coverage.
You will be asked to submit a copy of your marriage certificate to benefitsPLUS@dentsuaegis.com to confirm the marriage. Also, be sure to have all your dependent’s information at hand when you go in to the system to enroll.
Loss of Health Care Coverage
If you decline the company provided health care coverage to enroll in other coverage, you can enroll in your company’s plans if you lose that other coverage. For example if you turn age 26 and lose coverage under your parents’ plan you would be able to enroll in the company provided benefits.
You can register the life event online beginning the day that your coverage ends under the previous program. The effective date of the new program would be the date of the Life Event. Make sure to review the New Hire Benefits Orientation here to learn more about the plan offerings under the benefitsPLUS program. You must also submit a letter from your previous employer indicating the date your coverage ended including the details of your dependents and your insurance.
Change in Spouse or Domestic Partner’s benefits
If your spouse or domestic partner loses coverage elsewhere or gains coverage elsewhere you may add or remove your partner from your coverage.
Domestic Partner
If you start a domestic partnership and meet the qualifications of a Domestic Partnership as outlined in this Domestic Partnership Guide you would be eligible to enroll or add your partner to the company benefits. Please keep in mind if you terminate from a Domestic Partnership you must remove your Domestic Partner from coverage based on the effective date the partnership was terminated.
Divorce
If you are getting a divorce, you will be able to remove your spouse from your coverage. Please be sure to update your spouse’s address and contact information so that a COBRA packet can be mailed to them. You will not be able to reduce or increase your level of coverage, only to drop your spouse as a dependent on your plan.
Change in your work Schedule/Eligibility
If there is a change in your employment status for example switching to part time/ temporary status working under 21 hours a week you will be allowed to opt out of benefits. If your status changes from Temporary to Regular Full time, you will be able to enroll in the company benefits at that time.
Moved Recently
If your address has changed please notify your HR partner immediately to ensure that we have a current address on file for you. Once we receive your new address, it takes up to 1-2 weeks for your address to be updated in the benefits system and with all the insurance carriers.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
